NHL Draft Lottery Week: TV Schedule, Watchalong, and Primer
The week of the NHL draft lottery has officially arrived, which is set for this upcoming Friday, June 26th. There will be content each day on Crash The Pond in the lead up to the momentous occasion for the Anaheim Ducks.
Today we are officially announcing that we will be doing a watch along of the draft lottery at twitch.tv/crashthepond so that we can share our live reactions with you. We will be going live at slightly before 5 PM, and we hope you join us in the twitch chat to discuss the draft with other Ducks fans and Crash the Pond readers/listeners. The video will be recorded and put on our youtube channel. Immediately following the live stream, we will be recording a podcast, once again live streamed on our twitch channel to break down the result for the ducks, fingers crossed that we will be discussing how Lafreniere will look in a Ducks jersey.
As for how to watch the lottery, see the information below:
Date: June 26th
Time: 5 PM PT
Channel: NBCSN/NHL Network (US), Sportsnet/TVA (Canada)
As a refresher the Ducks finished with the 5th worst record in the NHL and as a result have the 5th best odds to win the lottery. There will be three lotteries run prior to the tv reveal. These lotteries will determine which team receives the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall pick, which means the Ducks can finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th. It is that simple, even though the NHL has tried to make it extremely complicated by including placeholder spots for the play in teams.
The following are the percentage chance that the Ducks will finish in one of those spots:
1st place: 8.5%
2nd place: 8.7%
3rd place: 8.9%
5th place: 8.4%
6th place: 34.5%
7th place: 26.7%
8th place: 4.3%
Putting that all together, the Ducks have a 1 in 4 shot of winning one of the three lotteries.
